If you live in Walla Walla and haven’t spent a lazy afternoon at Pioneer Park, you’re missing out on one of the best spots in town. The bird aviary alone is worth the trip — kids go nuts for it, but honestly so do adults. There’s a solid climbing structure, a water feature that gets heavy use on hot days, and enough open grass and soccer space that you won’t feel crowded even on busy weekends. The shade trees are massive and actually do their job, and the walking paths wind close enough to the pond that you get a real sense of being somewhere outside of town. Restrooms, picnic tables, parking — it’s all there and kept up well, which isn’t always a given.
