David Green Park

If you live on the south side of Anchorage, you probably already know David Green Park is one of the better spots to kill a few hours with the kids. The playground covers a solid range — slides, climbing structure, swings, and a sandbox for the littles — and the turf underfoot makes it a lot more forgiving than your typical wood chip situation. There’s a pond nearby with the usual ducks and geese hanging around, which honestly keeps younger kids entertained just as long as the play equipment does. Bring food, because the covered picnic area and BBQ grills are actually worth using, and there’s enough shaded seating that you’re not fighting over a good spot. The bike track and open grass field give older kids somewhere to burn energy once they’re done with the playground.
