If you’re walking the harbour with kids, this is the obvious stop — a proper pirate ship climbing structure right near the beach that actually earns its name. There’s a good mix of slides, swings, a seesaw, and climbing bits, so even the little ones (it’s well-suited to 2–10 year olds) stay occupied without the older kids getting bored five minutes in. The sea views are a genuine bonus rather than an afterthought, and the whole thing is kept in decent nick, which you don’t always get at coastal playgrounds taking a battering from the salt air. Toilets are nearby and parents can keep an eye on everything easily — it’s the kind of layout where you can actually sit down for a minute. Honestly, it works well as a reward stop after the abbey climb, or just a reason to linger longer in Whitby than you planned.
