Gordon Castle Walled Garden (cafe closed mon/tues)

If you’re anywhere near Fochabers, this place is worth the detour. The walled garden itself is genuinely impressive — proper variety in the planting, well looked after, and it never feels overcrowded. There’s a maze to keep kids (and honestly, adults) entertained, plus shaded seating and benches dotted around for when you just want to sit and take it all in. The café does good food and the staff are actually friendly, not just going-through-the-motions friendly — just note it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Parking’s easy, the walking path is a nice way to stretch your legs, and the whole thing has a calm about it that’s hard to find.
