Maesycwmmer Playground and Skate Park

The skate park here is genuinely decent — better than you’d expect for the area, and it draws a regular crowd of local kids most afternoons. There’s a mix of older and newer play equipment alongside an outdoor gym, so there’s usually something for everyone in the family. The setting is what really makes it though; it’s quiet, backs onto woodland, and the views are the kind you’d drive somewhere else to see. Bring a picnic because the tables are well-placed, and the walking path into the trees is worth doing before or after. Hengoed doesn’t shout about this spot much, but locals know it’s one of the better ones in the valley.
