If you’re after a proper day out without having to drive miles, Mote Park delivers — there’s a decent play area with a water feature the kids absolutely lose their minds over in summer, plus loads of picnic tables so you can actually sit down and eat without fighting over a patch of grass. The lake is the real draw for most locals, and the walking path around it is easy enough for little ones. Parking is pay-and-display, which isn’t ideal, but there’s usually space and the cafe means you don’t need to pack everything including the kitchen sink. Honestly, the open fields alone make it worth the trip — proper room to run around, kick a ball, or just let kids be feral for a few hours.
