Southwood Road Recreation Ground

Southwood Road is one of those parks that actually keeps everyone happy, which is rarer than it sounds. The zipline tends to be the big draw for older kids, but there’s enough going on — slides, climbing structure, swings, a sandbox — that toddlers aren’t left out either. Bring a picnic because the shaded tables make it easy to set up properly, and the parking situation is straightforward. Beyond the play area you’ve got a basketball court, soccer field, bike track, and a proper stretch of open grass, so it works just as well for a kickabout as it does for a lazy afternoon. Tunbridge Wells has a few good parks, but this one earns its reputation.
