Umbagong District Park – Fort Playground

Finding this one takes a bit of effort — it’s tucked away in Umbagong District Park and not exactly signposted from the street — but locals know it’s worth the hunt. The fort structure is the real drawcard, a multi-level caged climbing setup with two metal slides and a little cubby at the top that kids absolutely lose their minds over. It’s fully enclosed, which is a genuine relief if you’ve got a runner, and the soft flooring inside the platforms is a nice touch. Shade trees keep things comfortable on hot Canberra days, and the walking path through the park means you can make a proper outing of it. Bring a coffee, grab a bench, and let the kids go for it.
