Jesmond Park Playground

Locals with young kids know this one well — the shade alone makes it worth the trip on a hot Newcastle day. There’s a play train that younger ones absolutely lose their minds over, plus slides, swings, and a climbing structure to keep them busy for a solid hour. The big shade trees do most of the work keeping things cool, and there’s seating nearby so you’re not standing around in the sun. Walking trails wind through toward the bush and there’s a pond close by, so it’s easy to stretch the legs after the kids have worn themselves out. The soccer oval gives older siblings something to do while the littlies take over the playground.
