Thorndon Park Reserve

The bird-themed playground is genuinely one of the more creative setups you’ll find in the northeast suburbs — kids go straight for the water feature and don’t look back. Pack a lunch because the BBQ and picnic areas are actually well-spaced and there’s real shade from the trees, not just one sad umbrella. The lake adds a nice backdrop for a wander, and the walking path loops around nicely if you want to stretch your legs between sausages. Swings, slides, and a sandbox keep the little ones busy while everyone else relaxes on the benches. Parking is easy, and it handles a busy Saturday without feeling too chaotic.
