Weston Lake

Mostly known as a campground, this spot in Hopkins has a little playground tucked in that works well for younger kids — we’re talking the 2 to 12 crowd, nothing too elaborate. The real draw is the lake access and that genuinely quiet atmosphere you don’t always find this close to Columbia. Pack a cooler, claim a picnic table, fire up the grill, and let the kids run the open grass field while you actually decompress. Restrooms and parking are on-site, which makes it easy for families doing a casual day trip or an overnight stay. It’s a solid, no-frills option — especially if you’re connected to Fort Jackson and just want somewhere low-key to get outside.
