One of the better-kept secrets in Centennial, deKoevend gets the basics right in a way a lot of parks don’t. The shade trees actually do their job on hot afternoons, and there’s enough covered seating that you’re not fighting for a spot at the picnic tables. Kids have the water feature to cool off in summer, plus musical equipment that keeps the littler ones busy longer than you’d expect. The bike track and walking path connect right into the High Line Canal trail system, so it’s easy to make a full afternoon of it. Locals know this place — you’ll see everyone from toddlers to retirees on any given weekend, which is a good sign.
