Playgrounds at Jim Barnett Park

Jim Barnett is basically Winchester’s backyard park — the kind of place locals end up at on a Saturday without much of a plan. The playground is split up so the little ones aren’t getting run over by the bigger kids, which you’d think would be standard everywhere but somehow isn’t. There’s real shade for parents who want to actually sit down, plus picnic tables and BBQ spots if you want to make a full afternoon of it. The walking path loops past a pond and gets you close enough to the tree line that it feels less like a city park and more like somewhere worth being. Parking is easy, restrooms are there when you need them, and the basketball court gives older kids somewhere to burn off energy when they’ve outgrown the slides.
