Honestly, Milton State Park is one of those spots locals have kind of kept to themselves, and for good reason. The whole place sits on an island in the Susquehanna, so you’re getting river views from pretty much everywhere you walk. There’s a solid loop path that’s easy enough for little kids but still worth it for adults — especially on a weekday morning when it’s practically empty. Bring a soccer ball if you’ve got one, the open field gets good use, and there are picnic tables with actual shade if you want to eat without sweating through your lunch. Restrooms are on-site, parking is easy, and it connects nicely to the forested trails nearby if your group wants to stretch the trip out a bit.
