Locals with kids in Plano know Lathrop Park is the move when summer hits — that splash pad gets serious use and honestly earns its reputation. There are two separate play areas, so the toddlers aren’t constantly getting bulldozed by the older kids going hard on the ninja-style climbing gear. Shade trees and covered picnic tables mean you can actually hang out without melting, and the restrooms and parking situation are solid enough that you’re not dreading the logistics. The fenced areas are a nice touch if you’ve got runners. Good mix of ages, good community vibe — it’s one of those parks you end up at more than you planned.
