Lower Leffelle Picnic and Playground area

If you live anywhere near downtown Salem, this spot probably already has a permanent place in your weekend rotation. The open grass field alone makes it worth the trip — kids just scatter and run, which is honestly half the battle. There’s a climbing structure for the 2-12 crowd, picnic tables, restrooms, and enough shade and squirrels to keep things interesting. The walking path is a nice loop for when you need to decompress while the kids do their thing. Every year an art festival takes over the space and it’s one of those events that actually feels like a neighborhood thing, not a corporate production.
