St Columb’s Park play park

St Columb’s Park is honestly one of the better spots in Derry for a family afternoon out — the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting, with mature shade trees, a lake nearby, and trails that bleed into the forest if you fancy a proper walk after the kids have worn themselves out on the slides. There’s enough open grass for a kickabout or just letting toddlers do their chaotic thing, and the benches mean adults can actually sit down rather than hover. The café is a solid bonus — decent enough that you won’t be rushing off home. Suits kids from around two up to the age where they reckon they’re too cool for slides (they’re not).
