Skellingthorpe Play Area

Honestly one of the better spots around Lincoln for a proper day out with the kids. The wooden climbing structure is solid and the slide gets plenty of use — there’s enough here to keep different age groups entertained without everyone getting in each other’s way. Wood chip surfacing underfoot, good sightlines for parents, and the whole area’s enclosed, so you’re not constantly chasing toddlers toward the road. What really sets it apart is the setting — trails through the nearby woods, a pond close by, and a big open grass field next to a football pitch if the older ones need to burn off more energy. Parking, loos, benches with shade, picnic tables — it’s all there, which makes it easy to actually stay a while rather than cutting the visit short.
