Forest Drive Play Park

If you’re after a proper day out without driving miles into the countryside, this one’s hard to beat. The forest setting does a lot of the heavy lifting — there’s a lake nearby, decent mountain views, and enough space that it never feels cramped even when it’s busy. Kids get slides, swings, and a zipline, which tends to keep them occupied long enough for the adults to actually sit down at the picnic tables. The BBQ area is a nice touch, and the enclosed play area means you’re not constantly chasing toddlers toward the water. Parking, loos, a walking path — it’s all there, Newport people just don’t talk about it enough.
