Pells Recreation Ground

Right next to the Pells Pool — one of the oldest freshwater lidos in the country — this rec ground is a proper local favourite that doesn’t try too hard. The play area has slides and a water feature to keep younger kids happy, and the shade trees mean you’re not roasting on a summer afternoon. What really makes it though is the pond: bring bread, let the kids chase ducks, job done. Plenty of open grass for a kickabout or just sprawling out, and there are loos on site which always helps. It’s quiet, it’s green, and it feels like the kind of place only people who actually live in Lewes know to appreciate.
