Wincheap Play Area

Tucked away in Canterbury’s Wincheap area, this little enclosed park is genuinely one of the better spots for younger kids in the city. The single entrance makes it easy to keep an eye on things without hovering, and the mix of slides, swings, a seesaw, merry-go-round, and climbing frame gives the 3–8 crowd plenty to get stuck into. There’s a sandbox too, which always seems to buy an extra half hour. A few big old trees throw decent shade over the benches and picnic tables, so you’re not just standing in the sun waiting for them to tire out. It’s nothing flashy, but it’s well-kept, calm, and does exactly what it needs to.
