Churton Park Playground

The flying fox here is genuinely one of the better ones in the Wellington suburbs — long enough to actually build up some speed, and the kids will queue for it repeatedly. It got a full renovation not long ago and it shows, with a solid variety of swings and plenty of flat open grass for running around without tripping over everything. Parking’s easy, there are picnic tables if you’re making a proper afternoon of it, and the whole place feels well looked after. Good for little ones and older kids alike, which isn’t always easy to pull off.
