Lyall Bay Play Area

If you live on the south coast, this little playground is basically your backyard — fenced, right on the beach, and simple enough for toddlers to actually get around without chaos. The sand underfoot means kids are already in beach mode before they’ve even touched the slide or swings. Fair warning though, Lyall Bay does what Lyall Bay does, so pack a layer because the wind off Cook Strait is no joke. Restrooms and parking are right there, and you’ve got decent café options close enough to grab a flat white while you keep an eye on the kids through the fence.
