Waiouru Play Ground

Queree Drive doesn’t get a lot of outside attention, but locals know this little park does the job well. There’s a sandbox and swings for the younger kids, plus enough open grass to let them run themselves tired. The enclosed play area means you’re not constantly chasing anyone onto the road, and the shaded seating is genuinely useful given how exposed Waiouru can be. Picnic tables make it an easy lunch stop if you’re passing through on State Highway 1. Best suited for the 2–12 crowd, nothing flashy, but solid for what it is.
