If you live in Wilmington and haven’t made this your regular weekend spot, you’re genuinely missing out. The walking paths wind through enough tree cover to make you forget you’re in the city, and with the Brandywine Zoo right there, it’s easy to stretch a quick picnic into a whole afternoon. Bring a blanket — the open grass fields are solid for lounging, and the shade trees actually do their job on hot days. Restrooms and picnic tables are on-site, which sounds basic but makes a real difference when you’ve got kids or a group. The pond views don’t hurt either.
