Thurmont’s got a solid rec area here, and the playground equipment is genuinely new — you can tell nobody’s worn it down yet. There’s a covered picnic area with built-in grills, clean restrooms, and enough parking that you’re not circling the lot. The paved trail works for walkers, cyclists, and stroller pushers without anyone getting in each other’s way, and the open grass field gives kids room to just run. If you’re passing through on 15 heading toward Catoctin or Camp David, this is a legitimate stop — not just a stretch-your-legs spot.
