Ijong Street is one of those low-key spots that Braddon locals seem to keep to themselves, and honestly, fair enough. The gear is old school — swings, a seesaw, a climbing structure with a slide — nothing flashy, but kids under 8 don’t really need flashy. What makes it worth the visit is the shade cover from the mature trees, which actually does the job on a hot Canberra afternoon unlike half the playgrounds around here. There’s a BBQ and picnic tables if you want to make a proper afternoon of it, and the open grass gives little ones room to run. It’s quiet, it’s unpretentious, and that’s kind of the whole point.
