Commonwealth Park

If you live in Canberra, you probably already know this spot — Commonwealth Park sits right on the lake and it’s genuinely one of the better places to take kids who have energy to burn. The water feature keeps the little ones busy while you grab a bench and actually relax for five minutes. There’s plenty of open grass for running around, shade trees when the sun gets brutal, and picnic tables that actually get used. The walking path loops through nicely, and there’s enough going on artistically that older kids stay curious. Best for the 2-10 crowd, especially on a weekday when it’s not packed.
