Holt Oval Playground

If you’re after somewhere low-key with actual shade that doesn’t disappear by 10am, this one delivers. The big shade trees and covered seating make it genuinely usable on a hot Canberra day, which you can’t say about every playground in the area. Kids have the usual slides, swings, and climbing structure to keep them busy, and when they inevitably want more space, the soccer oval and open grass field are right there. The bike track gets a solid workout on weekends — bring the balance bikes if you’ve got little ones. Those bird sculptures dotted around are a nice touch too, gives the place a bit of character beyond just being another suburb oval.
