Purcell Park Playground

It’s more of a green lung than a destination playground, honestly — a big open grass field where kids can just run without bumping into anything, which counts for more than people give it credit for. The walking path loops around nicely and it’s genuinely quiet out there, the kind of spot Matraville locals seem to keep to themselves. That said, the play equipment situation is pretty bare bones and families with younger kids expecting a proper playground setup might be a bit underwhelmed. Good for a kick of the footy or letting a toddler burn energy in open space, less good if you’re after slides and climbing gear. Worth a visit if you’re nearby, but probably not worth a special trip until the facilities get some love.
