Honestly, Wallsend Park is one of those spots locals keep coming back to because it actually delivers on the basics — proper shade from mature trees, clean amenities, and enough equipment to keep kids of all ages busy for a solid stretch. There are separate play areas, so the little ones aren’t getting bulldozed by bigger kids on the climbing structure, and the merry-go-round is always a hit. Pack a lunch and use the BBQ and picnic tables, or just grab a bench under the trees while you keep an eye on things — visibility is good throughout. The walking path and open grass field mean there’s something for everyone, even if playgrounds aren’t really their thing.
