Locals with kids in Zetland know this reserve is worth the visit, especially once the water feature gets going — it’s a genuine hit on warm days. There are two separate play areas, which is actually really handy when you’ve got a toddler and an older kid to keep happy at the same time. The climbing structure and slides give the bigger ones something to work with, while the shaded seating means parents aren’t just standing around baking in the sun. Pack some snags — the BBQ area with picnic tables makes it an easy spot to stretch an afternoon into a proper family outing. Good open grass field too, for when the kids inevitably need to just run.
