If you’re going to drag the kids somewhere to run wild, at least make it somewhere worth the drive — and Loughcrew delivers on that front. There’s a solid open grass field where they can tear around while you actually decompress, which feels like a fair trade. The site itself is well set up for families, with decent parking and that big Meath sky doing most of the heavy lifting in terms of atmosphere. It’s right on the doorstep of the Loughcrew cairns, so there’s genuine history within walking distance if the novelty of the field wears off.
