Lough Key Forest & Activity Park

If you’re anywhere near Boyle and haven’t been to Lough Key yet, sort that out. The forest trails alone are worth the trip — proper old woodland with the lake appearing through the trees when you least expect it. Kids get slides and tunnels at the play area while the grown-ups can do the treetop walk, which genuinely gives you a different view of the whole place. Bring bikes if you can, the track is well laid out, and there are enough picnic tables under the shade trees to actually find a decent spot without hovering over someone. It works for toddlers, teenagers, and everyone in between, which isn’t something you can say about many parks around here.
