Mission Bay Playground

Right on the waterfront at Mission Bay, this playground gets busy for good reason — it’s been recently redone and the upgrade shows. The sandbox and tunnels keep little ones genuinely entertained, and the Pohutukawa trees plus shade sails mean you’re not just slowly cooking while you wait. Picnic tables, benches, and actual parking make it easy to settle in for a proper afternoon rather than a quick stop. There’s open grass for running around and a walking path if the adults need to stretch their legs while the kids do their thing. With the beach literally right there and plenty of cafes nearby, it’s one of those spots that works for the whole family without anyone having to compromise.
