Rewi Alley Reserve

This is one of those parks you end up staying at way longer than planned. The bike track and walking path loop around nicely, and with a basketball court, soccer field, and open grass all in one spot, kids aged 2 to 16 genuinely have things to do — not just one rusty swing set. Pack a lunch because the BBQ and picnic setup here is actually worth using, and there’s shaded seating when the Auckland sun decides to show up. The pond with ducks is a reliable hit with the little ones, and the whole place is accessible and well-maintained enough that you’re not dodging hazards. Parking on-site means you’re not circling the block, which honestly makes all the difference.
