The shallow, calm water here is genuinely one of the best spots on the Āwhitu Peninsula for getting kids in the water without any stress — no serious waves, no drama. It’s the kind of place where you can hand someone a paddleboard or kayak for the first time and actually feel good about it. The white sand is the real deal too, not the grey gravelly stuff you get at plenty of Auckland beaches. There’s a walking track if you want to stretch your legs and take in the coastal scenery, which honestly does most of the heavy lifting on a clear day. Locals tend to keep this one fairly quiet, and that’s exactly why it’s worth the drive out.
