Spielplatz Garden of Tane

If you’re already making the trip out to Akaroa, this little playground at the Garden of Tane is worth adding to the itinerary. It sits along Onuku Road on the Banks Peninsula, and honestly the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting — the garden surrounds you and the views out toward the peninsula are genuinely hard to beat. It’s a relaxed, unhurried kind of spot, the sort of place where kids can run around while adults actually stop and breathe for a minute. Worth pairing with a drive to the lighthouse or one of the nearby lookout points to make a proper afternoon of it.
