Friendly Bay Steampunk Playground

If you know Oamaru, you already know the town leans hard into its steampunk identity — and this playground at Friendly Bay takes that seriously. Cogs, pipes, and industrial sculptures make the whole place feel like a film set, but kids are too busy on the zipline and climbing structures to notice the aesthetic. The pirate ship alone is worth the visit, and the tunnels keep younger ones entertained while older kids work out the zipline queue situation. Restrooms and picnic tables are right there, parking is easy, and honestly it suits anyone from toddlers up to about 14 before they start pretending they’re too cool for it.
