Playground

Right in the heart of Tākaka, this playground is the kind of spot you end up at whether you planned to or not — grab a coffee from one of the nearby cafes and let the kids loose while you actually get a breather. There’s a solid mix of stuff to keep them busy: slides, tunnels, a climbing structure, swings, and a sandbox that younger ones especially go nuts for. The natural timber construction feels like it belongs here rather than being dropped in from a catalogue. Shade trees help on those bright Nelson/Tasman days, and the fact that there are toilets on-site is something parents genuinely appreciate. It’s had some improvements over the years and is better for it — a reliable go-to for families passing through or locals killing an afternoon.
