Waterfront Playground

Right on the Whitianga waterfront, this playground punches well above its weight for a town this size. The pirate ship sandpit is the obvious crowd-pleaser, but there’s genuinely something for every age — swings and a merry-go-round for the littlies, solid climbing structure for the kids who need to burn serious energy, plus a water feature that comes into its own on a hot Coromandel afternoon. You’re eating lunch at one of the picnic tables with actual views of boats on the harbour, which makes the whole thing feel less like a playground stop and more like a proper outing. Locals keep it in good shape, and the cafes are basically steps away if the sandwiches run out.
