If your kid goes through a train phase, this place will absolutely make their day. It’s a volunteer-run steam railway in Middlesex where little ones can ride an actual working steam train — and the people running it genuinely love what they do, which comes through. There’s open grass to run around on after the ride, picnic tables if you’ve packed lunch, and parking that won’t cost you a fortune. Wheelchair access has been improved recently too, so it’s easier to get around the site with buggies or mobility aids.
