West Hoe Park

Right on the waterfront, this park punches well above its weight for families with little ones. The playground has the usual suspects — slides, swings, a climbing frame, merry-go-round — but it’s the play train that always gets the kids excited, and the sea views while they’re running around aren’t exactly a hardship for the adults either. Toddlers and pre-schoolers are really the sweet spot here, with everything scaled and paced just right for that age group. Picnic tables, decent parking, and visible sightlines mean you’re not spending the whole visit stressed — you can actually sit down for five minutes. On a clear day with Plymouth Sound stretched out behind the playground, honestly it’s one of the nicest spots in the city for a low-effort family morning out.
