King George’s Playground

Locals know this one’s worth the trip — it’s got enough space that you don’t feel like you’re on top of other families, which makes a real difference on a busy weekend. The skate park keeps the older kids entertained while the little ones (it works well from around 2 up) have their own things to get stuck into. Picnic tables mean you can actually settle in for a while rather than eating off your lap on the grass. The open field gives kids room to just run, which sounds simple but a lot of parks around here don’t have that. It’s well looked after too, which isn’t always a given.
