Skelf Island Children’s Playground

If you’re going to make the trek out to Castle Howard, the playground alone is worth it for the kids. It’s a proper themed setup — think elevated walkways, tunnels to scramble through, and a rope bridge that genuinely gets little ones working for it. The lake nearby makes for a nice backdrop, and there’s enough open grass around that older siblings or restless parents can actually stretch their legs. Benches, loos, and parking are all sorted, so you’re not improvising. Good for ages 3 and up, though honestly the bolder toddlers will want to attempt everything regardless.
