If you’re after somewhere a bit more off the beaten track than your standard town park, this one’s worth the trip. It sits right alongside forest and trails, so the kids can bounce between the play equipment and a proper wander through the trees — keeps everyone happy for longer than you’d expect. There are picnic tables on site, so just pack a lunch and make an afternoon of it. Worth knowing: the toilets here are composting ones, which is either a novelty or a mild inconvenience depending on your outlook, but at least they’re there.
