Kelburn Castle and Estate

If you’ve not been to Kelburn Estate yet and you live anywhere near Largs, honestly, sort that out. The secret forest alone is worth the trip — it’s this genuinely strange and brilliant maze of trails, grottos, and hidden corners that kids absolutely lose their minds over. There are slides, a water feature, and a maze tucked into the woodland, plus the castle looming in the background which adds a whole other layer to the day. Pack a picnic because the grounds have tables and plenty of shade, and you’ll want to stay longer than you planned. The walking paths lead down toward waterfalls if you know where you’re going, and the open grass fields give younger ones room to just run around while the adults catch a breath.
