Haggs Playpark and football pitch

Locals know this one well — it’s a solid little park with an enclosed play area and a decent stretch of open grass that works just as well for a kickabout as it does for letting the dog have a proper run. The fenced section is a genuine bonus if you’ve got a dog that can’t be trusted off-lead. Being right near the motorway makes it a handy place to pull over and stretch your legs mid-journey, and plenty of people passing through on the A74(M) do exactly that. Nothing fancy, but it does the job.
