Hooper Bay School Playground

Out here in Hooper Bay, the school playground is pretty much the heart of kid life in the community — when you grow up this far out on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, you know every square foot of the place. It’s where school-age kids have been running around and burning off energy for generations, and honestly those memories stick with you. There’s something about a small village playground that hits different than anything you’d find in a bigger city — everybody knows everybody, and the kids who played here years ago are now watching their own children do the same thing. It’s simple, it’s local, and that’s exactly what makes it matter.
