Locals know this spot by its namesake — a massive, sprawling tree that honestly does look like an elephant if you stare at it long enough. It’s one of those Chico gems that doesn’t show up on many lists but keeps getting passed around by word of mouth. The shade alone makes it worth the trip, especially once the valley heat kicks in around June. Bring the kids, bring a blanket, and don’t be surprised if you end up staying longer than planned.
